Leslie Knope of nachos.
If I am going to your newspaper’s website to read the news I do not need any video pop-ups ever ever. Ever. Thank you. #getoffmydigitallawn

Cozy at home watching old Christmasy movies won. We’re going with the less usual suspects. Shop Around the Corner. The Bishop’s Wife.

I’m pulling for a childhood favorite, Drew Barrymore’s fever dream version of Babes in Toyland next.

My desire to have a cozy-under-a-blanket-day is at odds with my desire to have a run-around-and-do-all-the-Christmas-things day on my one unscheduled day, and if you see me out and about in a Snuggie this is how it started.

Brb creating a service that will come gently remove your phone from your doomscrolling insomniac hands at 4am and turn your pillow to the cool side.

(It’s me. I’ll be the service because it will give me something instead of doomscrolling to do when I’m up at 4am.)

Seems valuable for as many US political scientists as possible to point out, esp. to journalists, that the lesson from Korea is that would-be dictators are stopped when members of their own party stand up against them.

Finished reading What You Are Looking for Is in the Library and what a perfect read for the season I am in right now. A calm, sweet vibe about finding community and ourselves. And, perhaps obviously, the power of reading. #booksky

Had my day sidetracked by an unexpected home repair involving a bifold door, the worst of all doors. Trying to be grateful it happened on a day I had unscheduled time to deal with it but also if anyone knows the inventor of bifold doors, I have some thoughts!

The presence of shortbread suggests the intriguing existence of longbread.

I must consume the longbread.

Seeking recommendations for engaging reads that will hold my attention away from the doomscrolling AND not be depressing/gutting.

There are times that I love reading for moving, thoughtful, world expanding, stick-with-you books, but the time I’m in now is reading for pure enjoyment. #booksky

For the record, currently watching Northern Exposure (inspired by my trip to Alaska). It is…not inspiring another trip.

Thrilled to have a new venue in which to embarrass myself by [what is the Bluesky word for tweeting] about which old TV shows I’m watching before bed and which movies/tiktoks/pop culture phenomenons I haven’t seen.

Only in Wisconsin. 🧀
For the @washingtonpost.com travel section, I wrote about the Mars Cheese Castle, which IS a castle and DOES sell cheese but is located on the side of the highway in Wisconsin, not on Mars.
A literal castle full of cheese? Only in Wisconsin.
Mars Cheese Castle is more than a roadside curiosity and a store. It has become a symbol for all things Wisconsin.
