Wednesday 26th November 2025

Misty, damp start followed by glorious winter sunshine. Handful of new Blackies, Redwing, Skylark & Woodcock new in. Several Goldcrest & Firecrest lingering & 3 Snow Bunting on the beach. 3 Mallard flying inland is worth a mention as we don't see many.First seen in 2020 Bloxworth Snout has undoubtedly colonised living on Pellitory-of-the-wall that grows out of, and around, the Fort & then hibernating in the buildings. Ringing: 4 Blackbird.

American White Pelicans waking up #OnTheEdge in a southwestern #Minnesota pond. My contribution to today’s #BirdOfTheDay #birds #naturephotography

A compacted pod of a dozen American White Pelicans on a grey, foggy mourning. They were photographed as they were beginning to stir, some with open beaks as they shook their heads. They have the horn or flat plate on top of their orange beaks that marks breeding season.

the giant petrel is a large bird - with a 70-80 inch wingspread. This one's pink bill tip suggests it is a Northern Giant Petrel.

Went in a bit of a different direction with this month's #BirdWhisperer... seemed like it was all about the eyes with this spotted owlet 🪶

For today’s #BirdOfTheDay I have a handsome Common Grackle standing on a stone #OnTheEdge of a stream.
