Tomorrow’s weather might be so nice that the person at the end of the Taqueria Del Sol line might be standing next to the person at the end of El Tesero’s line.

As someone who regularly got asked what high school I attended and got carded well into my early 30s, it's weird to now be at the age (almost 50) that I've edited out my graduation years and early work experience from LI.

Shouldn't have started reading a (lovely) book about two best friends (one dying of cancer at the exact same age that my best friend died of cancer) with a character with the same name as her kid/my godson right before bed. For better or worse, I compartmentalize that grief so it doesn't consume me.

Thank you for consistently speaking out!
A good read, from @roseveleth.com, in response to yesterday's announcement from World Athletics. If you haven't listened to their podcast, Tested, this would be a great time to do so. And athletes and coaches, now is the time to speak up.

In spite of *everything,* I had a perfect Atlanta weekend because I left my house, ran on some trails, and shared conversation and music and food with friends. Harder to be isolated and defeated (which is what they want) when in community.

struggling with these conflicting things: I met most of my best friends and built much of my career online; but we were never meant to know this much about random people or celebrities and these addictive platforms are a cesspool of misinformation and chaos destroying our society

“In order to shoot off one email per week for a year, ChatGPT would use up 27 liters of water, or about one-and-a-half jugs… that means if one in 10 U.S. residents—16 million people—asked ChatGPT to write an email a week, it’d cost more than 435 million liters of water.”
AI doesn’t just require tons of electric power. It also guzzles enormous sums of water.

Keep thinking about how my parents made my best friend sit through a 30-minute slide show (set to music) of photos from their anniversary trip to New Zealand and how she made me scrapbooks for every birthday and graduation and maybe we need to get that analog again. Also: I really miss her.

I love this map and retrospective of this series, which I looked forward to writing every month. Thank you @bethmckibben.bsky.social and @roughdraftatlanta.com for the opportunity and to everyone in Atlanta who shared their favorite restaurants (and often their meals!) with me this year.

This tells a little *too much* truth. Atlanta has a powerful creative, progressive culture that is stifled at almost every single turn.

Atlanta was the future once.
Now it's on the precipice of being just another city - with a Shake Shack and Sweetgreen for all.

Had a very hard day yesterday and am very proud of myself I didn't even think about drinking. I still drink on occasion, but am very mindful about it and only do when I feel relaxed and/or happy. And grateful I was with a friend when I got bad news—no better place to cry than the hair salon.
