I have a day job. I only care that Bluesky exists for about 20 minutes once every 4 months or so.

Also on Mastadon at mstdn.ca/@lazarukb

I block obvious trolls who follow me, so just don't waste your time.

So let's just call this what it is. Just like in Brexit, the pro-separation groups are LYING.

Its not "misleading", "mistaken", "poorly articulated", "spin", or "just asking questions". Alberta Next and our own premier are flat out LYING.

One day Mark Seymour, lead singer of Hunters & Collectors in Australia, followed me on Twitter. I live in Canada and no one I know has ever even heard of that band. I was a fan from when I was in late high school.

No idea why he followed me. And then he responded to my fanboy post about it too.
Right folks. Feeling rather down at the moment so bringing back an oldie

OK. Who is organising the petitions to trigger referendums to recall Smith, force the UCP to rebrand as MoronsUnited, cede all non-treaty Alberta land to PEI or whatever we need to do to highlight the stupidity of this?

Danielle Smith's reform is nudging Alberta separation vote from 'if' toward 'when' | CBC News
Activists would need signatures from a reduced fraction of Albertans to force a referendum, thanks to a new UCP bill. But to actually win separation, they must climb a much higher wall (and most oppose the idea).

I'm old enough to know just how fragile this beautiful nation is, and I’ll be damned if I let a reckless, incompetent and unethical Premier undermine what we’ve built here together.

Albertans and Canadians deserve so much better than Danielle Smith.

Call it anecdotal, but my Canadian friends who are cancelling their US travel are not doing it because of tariff worries at all; they’re doing it because the US government is currently actively threatening Canada’s sovereignty and economy and they’re all justifiably furious
This is exactly why Canadians are fed up with US media.

A segment on Canadians cancelling Vermont vacations. Mentions tariffs but not (1) who started the trade war or (2) that the US is constantly threatening to ANNEX our country!

This isn’t MAGA. It’s not FOX. It’s a random NBC affiliate.

When Donald Trump threatens student protests, consider why: throughout modern history, student movements have repeatedly been the catalyst that toppled dictatorships. Authoritarian leaders fear campus activism precisely because it works. Below is a list of 36 student-led pro-democracy movements.🧵

This is why lil marco was sinking into the couch. He was hoping we wouldn’t find it…so don’t RT right now this very second.

That ship has sailed. The US is an international pariah. It can't be trusted as part of the world economy, world health & is an imminent threat to world peace.

You can't threaten allies and cut off aid to the most vulnerable which will kill millions and continue to be a member of civil society
We're going to lose Canada and Mexico and Europe very, very soon if Trump and Vance aren't careful after this Zelensky disaster. I don't expect they will be careful. We're about to be on a geopolitical island in the middle of North America.
