Oh this is going to be a “cringey skin” feeling for a few days thinking about how I should probably have just carried on ignoring them and sailed over the top of it

It's an interesting way that the game has changed and that comedians have had to adapt to as social media has defeated circuit prowess as a way to climb the career ladder. It's definitely something I've got better at but I'm still not there at being completely myself online.

But, a thing that's interesting about the internet age of clips, is that sometimes following a path down towards your nichest self builds you your own audience quicker than trying to please everybody.

I try and avoid this sort of thing, because my livelihood depends on making the majority of the room laugh and so obviously doing this fifty times a night will leave my family homeless pretty quickly.

This bit obviously doesn't take off - it gets some reaction from some of the audience but it's not a banger. But, I find the concept of hating "all cyclists" so annoying that I become a bit high and mighty in making a point instead of japing.

So, worse than two friends who get on a train together and then do ten years worth of catching up?
December 2, 2025 at 10:05 AM
Oh yeah speaker is a no go. Headphones are not a new invention. You should have to show them with your train ticket like a rail card 😂

I'm supposed to be writing but I'm on a noisy train, can you tell?!
December 2, 2025 at 10:01 AM
As in, we almost don't hear an in person conversation because we register what it is and phase it out a bit just like we're not constantly aware of the train rumbling and stuff? But a one half convo can't fade so it makes us feel like they're being unreasonable?
December 2, 2025 at 10:01 AM
Wow that's a jump! Does it? Just someone chatting or catching up?
December 2, 2025 at 9:59 AM
I wonder if it is a bit of an innate reaction to the rhythm and sound of two (or more) people talking being really normal to us but as soon as it's one half and there are unusual gaps and silences we notice it more and therefore it feels annoying because it's "abnormal"?
