If the orange man gets desperate enough, I’ll say it now that I won’t be surprised if some kind of major domestic incident could sadly take place on U.S. soil to justify a ‘Patriot Act’ overhaul of U.S. law to slip the country into full authoritarianism.

I've been working on a paper explaining how disordered discourse captures institutional power and how that inevitably results in a slide towards authoritarianism, but I didn't expect to have my conclusions constantly reinforced like this.
NEW: White House says the arrest and deportation of student activist & legal US resident, Mahmoud Khalil, is a blueprint for more.
The final line here is chilling. The White House specifically says Khalil was not breaking the law.
No evidence, no due process, no crime. He was just disappeared.
