A good trait of a leader is one who listens to concerns and criticisms without being dismissive or attacking the person who spoke up.

Headhunters are the most nonsensical people I’ve had to deal with. Completely unprepared to recruit or fulfill their contracts if they’re reaching out to TT faculty for entry level jobs expecting a serious response.

I’m thoroughly amused by fusion folks who hates hearing/seeing folks say/write “nuclear fusion energy” and not “fusion energy”.

Pretty sure the terminology nuclear fusion is what popular culture will use.

I really wish fusion energy companies would not crap on nuclear energy as a way to promote fusion.

Reminder to NIH funded folks, you are not the only people who get federal funding. Those of us funded through DOE/NSF/USDA/etc are not irrelevant. Please do not treat us like we do not matter because we do not do NIH funded work.

@americanair.bsky.social your customer, in Seat 3C on Flight AA4990 RIC to ORD, physically threatened me after I asked him to not poke and slap the person sitting next to me in seat 2D.

I hope y’all decide to tell this person to chill out with the attempts at physical intimidation on planes.

i’d rather we invest our time and energy and improving the ability to make flat pack modular mass timber pre-fabrication more cost-effective and viable than spend $ chasing dreams of 3-D printed concrete houses
General problem:
If I print buildings out of concrete that don't have to be built out of concrete (and in an unnecessary format, which needs more concrete infrastructure), i.e. the market for concrete is expanded, I end up with more emissions, even if the concrete is decarbonised somewhat.

@dannyavula.bsky.social are you (The City) going to give grants to helps restaurants that have to cancel service again today through the rest of the boil water notice?

Water boil advisory twice in the same six month period is going to be extremely damaging to the restaurant industry.

Everyone says nuclear power is overregulated. With the big nuclear EOs looming, I spent a few weeks talking to people in the nuclear industry to find out which reforms they thought would be most helpful, and which they were nervous about. Here are the top 12. whatisnuclear.com/news/2025-05...

It's fun to ask what kind of mathematics different animals would discover first, what they would find intuitive.

Octopi would obviously instantly figure out differential geometry, but I think possums would discover statistics before the Pythagorean theorem.
