Block lists are stupid and I've been saying it since day one.
This is one of the reasons I think it'd be very helpful to also have something like "allow lists."
E.g. anyone I follow or add to an "allow list" is exempt from any blocklist I follow so I know my friends don't get added to a list I sub to.

Personally I’m not too pressed because I always assume the people who are truly interested in me will at one point notice/seek me out and undo the block, but for smaller accounts it’s messed up and can really screw you over
So yeah, I’ve become kinda anti block lists unfortunately

Many full time creatives have “invisible safety nets” like bread-winning partners, trust funds, external support, etc. No shame on anyone, but it creates a false vision of success. The cost of going to cons alone on top of hoping to eat as a freelancer are untenable, IMO.
When people hear that I'm returning to part time work they often ask "are things not going well with your art?"
The problem really is things are going well, but the world is so unstable that I long for some consistency and income that I don't have to pay quarterly taxes on

Consciously looking for lighthearted art and stories that remember to be silly and upbeat. I've been gobbling up the depression novels, hardship journeys, and dystopias and it's super got to me emotionally
