Fossil fuels are a money-printing machine—unless you factor in the real costs, which nobody does.

We need better comms: The music's about to stop, leaving carbon-intensive economies holding the bag.

Carney's plan isn't just ecocidal, it's economically myopic—setting Canada up for failure. #CdnPoli

My riding's MP, who I grilled for 20 minutes about Carney's intentions when he went door to door during the last election, resigned from cabinet over our gvt's grotesque energy plan

Trust me: We're not impressed. #ElbowsUp

Not a journey: chronic illness is "a place, and often a dark and lonely one";

Long COVID is a cage, a prison; derailment into a ditch on the side of the road.

It forces you to watch, helplessly, hopelessly alone, as life passes by.

If you knew every Covid infection you prevented also prevents organ damage, diabetes, cancer, early dementia, other ailments, would you mask again?

N95 is effective prevention tool. Covid vax can keep you out of hospital, maybe prevent Long Covid but doesn’t entirely prevent infection 😷 does better
Sadly, people have been lied to by omission by our govts and public health and they don’t know that no one fully recovers from Covid.

Bottom line: Beware the Brain Retraining grift.

Thankfully, actual science is progressing: I'd been hoping for an update on microfluidic capture (the 'herringbone chip') for diagnosing Long COVID & enabling us to measure treatment efficacy. Here it is.

If it pans out? Game on.

Paul Garner is known to lobby for DNRS (Dynamic Neural Retraining System) behind the scenes. I have the receipts. Here is but one.

Testimonials do not replicated evidence make. There is a process to science. One would think someone calling themselves "ME/CFS research" would know this.

I have the luxury of being well supported by family and MDs. I am not depressed, stressed or worried. I was fit and happy, got COVID, became disabled. Exercise used to make me stronger. It now leads to PEM crashes. But I'm convinced a cure is coming and curious as to the underlying mechanisms. 7/9

A Freedom of Information Act request shows Paul Garner actively campaigning for Canada to focus on somatisation as a cause of Long COVID in their updated guidelines. At best, he has no idea (and no evidence other than his own recovery—within a year). That's malicious, given the implications. 6/9

You don't profit from promoting BRT? I'm glad. But then why push something that is scientifically dubious (at best) and predatory (at worst)? You and I both know there are 100s of alleged cures for Long COVID out there. None of them work for 99% of people who try them. But this? THIS works? 5/9

Relying on mindset to cure MECFS is an easy way to explain the unknown. It's why thunder was a God before it was understood to be an electrical discharge. Can CBT help cope with the condition and improve overall outlook? Absolutely. Does it allow paraplegics to walk again? Apparently, yes. 4/9

Old TV shows had the uncle yelling "oh my ulcer" whenever there was stress. The actual cause was H. pylori—which antibiotics cure. The plague? They relied on prayer—they needed penicillin. Tuberculosis? Thought retreats could cure them. Brain retraining for MECFS and Long COVID are no different. 3/9

I'm not jealous of anyone who recovers from ME/CFS. I'm angry at the hubris of CAMPAIGNING that it's due to something conveniently intangible. It's the same grift that has stalked victims of chronic illness since time immemorial. Soon as we don't understand an illness: it's all in your head. 2/9

What angers me is the grift—people who make careers out of exploiting this grey zone.

Because we don't yet grasp Long COVID & MECFS it opens the door to all sorts of false hope. I say it often, Long COVID and ME/CFS are a window on medieval medicine—how we acted before we knew why we got sick.

Allowing it is not the same as actively endorsing, promoting, pushing it everywhere, all the time.

Gambling is highly addictive. It destroys lives. Keep it legal, keep it above ground, but for the love of God stop normalizing—nay, glorifying—it.

99% of "breakthroughs" tend to be hyperbolic bids for more grant money. This, however, looks like it might be the real thing. Few degenerative diseases are as vicious as ALS. If science can beat that, it can beat anything.

There is no cure for #LongCOVID or #MECFS… Yet.
But this gives me hope.
In world first, Israeli scientists use RNA-based gene therapy to stop ALS deterioration
