I finished Fledgling by Octavia Butler so I can return it to the library. I enjoyed it, the world building is very thought out and I loved Shori’s struggles to find herself after a traumatic and horrible event and get justice.

This is one of my biggest quibbles with the AMC showverse. Anne Rice created vampire lore that then became what inspired most vampire lore going forward and it would have been cool for the shows to have vampires who are dead during the day, who can’t eat, who can’t see or feel the sun.
One of the missed opportunities in Talamasca is being specific with the Rice vampire lore. The lore of how Anne Rice vampires work is really specific and interesting, and even with the changes to it in IWTV, Talamasca feels particularly not careful with it. So much daylight!?
