For the @latimes.com, I reviewed KEEPER, in which Osgood Perkins tries a Soderbergh-like genre doodle.
Review: In 'Keeper,' a romantic getaway becomes as nightmarish as you'd expect
The latest movie from horror director Osgood Perkins ('Longlegs,' 'The Monkey') shows off technical mastery while lacking the lingering sting of his better work.

No bleaker satire than making it through THE RUNNING MAN, past end credits of a raised fist with “Together Against the Network,” to see the words: A Skydance Corporation.

Or maybe there is, if someone makes a documentary about what Edgar Wright may have had to cut.

Review: Edgar Wright's 'The Running Man' limps into theaters too relevant to be any fun
Stephen King’s 1982 techno-dystopian novel no longer feels sci-fi, making this remake trip over its own feet. (It's still better than the Schwarzenegger version.)

Review: Enjoy the sharp twists in the techno-thumping, Cannes-winning road thriller 'Sirāt'
The pleasures and agonies of Oliver Laxe’s spellbinding Cannes winner 'Sirāt' kick off at a sandy Moroccan rave where a dad and his son search for a lost girl.

Edgar Wright's THE RUNNING MAN, released by Paramount, is about why monopolistic corporations, like Paramount, which manipulate the news to support a conservative agenda, like Paramount, are so evil they should be taken down by force.

So support the message by... giving Paramount money?

My review:
‘The Running Man’ Review: Paramount Movie Argues That Opposing Paramount Is Paramount
Glen Powell is hunted for sport on national television in Edgar Wright's spirited, but tragically ironic adaptation of Stephen King's sci-fi thriller

Of the two new movies in which a film-industry father seeks to reconcile with his two neglected daughters, I'm a bit surprised to find myself preferring the honest schmaltz of JAY KELLY to the coy self-satisfaction of SENTIMENTAL VALUE. www.newyorker.com/magazine/202...
The Bad Show-Biz Dads of “Sentimental Value” and “Jay Kelly”
In new films from Joachim Trier and Noah Baumbach, success in filmmaking proves depressingly incompatible with success in fatherhood.

DIE MY LOVE

As good and committed as Jennifer Lawrence is, there were times I wanted to rescue her from her own movie, to protect her from the fate of Faye Dunaway when “Mommie Dearest” turned another blond Oscar winner into a joke.

Review: Jennifer Lawrence gives everything to the wild, brutal 'Die My Love' but gets left dangling
This messy Molotov cocktail by indie auteur Lynne Ramsay pairs Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson as flailing new parents who fight, bite and destroy.
