As ever, the loss of something good and useful for Americans is framed as a loss for Democrats — in the mass media, everything becomes just a political football to be kicked back and forth instead of examined for its impact on everyday citizens regardless of political party.

I’m finding the community here far more engaging and respectful, while still wickedly funny. Happy to be migrating to these friendlier skies.

Republicans want to tell you what books you can read, what bathroom you can use, what words you can say, what history you can learn, what you can or can’t do with your own body and what gender you are… but tell me more about how the Dems are “coming for your freedoms”.

Right-wingers are not coming to this platform for any reason other than to be obnoxious trolls to people who just want to be left alone. They are not here for any useful or constructive purpose. They only want to tear down and insult. It’s all they know. It’s how they live.

I've been thinking about this poem by Langston Hughes recently and although it was published in 1931, it remains relevant as ever.

There are stories popping up all over the place about people now regretting their votes, as they learn that trump's tariffs or deportation policies will DIRECTLY affect them.

"Oh, you mean WE pay the tariffs?"
"But I'M not a criminal."

Alas, my field of fucks is barren.
I have not ONE to spare.

The biggest change over the last four decades — the change lurking behind the insecurities and resentments of the working class — has nothing to do with wokeism or any other Republican bogeymen.

It has directly to do with a huge shift in the distribution of income and wealth.

Never forget this: The forces rigging our economy, undermining our democracy, polluting our planet, and stoking hatred are counting on you to give up. Cynicism is how they win. Stay clear-eyed and ready for the fight ahead.
