Second generation GP in Brisbane & Goondiwindi, both parents were country GPs. Educator, advocate, firm believer in the goodness of humanity & the importance of kindness. Leadership that lasts requires withstanding the onslaught & succession planning.
As a GP working since 1990, I can only marvel at the significant changes to cervical cancer screening and detection. From annual Pap smears to biannual and now 5 yearly CSTs and self collect for asymptomatic patients while case numbers plummet and deaths fall. Science, I salute you 😊

As a woman I fiercely believe in body autonomy. As a physician, there was nothing more scary in my training than watching a woman lose half her blood volume in what seemed like a moment as she bled out in front of me. Without the expert intervention of obstetric colleagues, we would have lost her.

The universe captured in a 3 second exposure by my iPhone, no tripod. 8:59 pm, July 25,2025, Goondiwindi, Queensland, Australia
I might have missed it, except I had to get out of the car to close the gate. How much do I miss by simply not looking?

iPhone photo, slightly cropped, no other editing. No tripod. Mt Fuji in the background. The phone saw details, with a 3 second exposure, what was just a faint outline for the naked eye

Australia votes today in our federal election
I am grateful for a stable democracy, for compulsory, preferential voting, for the ease with which this process unfolds for me & thankful for the invisible workers who work so hard to make it look so easy
Anthony Green, thank you, you will be missed

An entire sea cannot sink a ship unless the water gets inside of the ship. The same with the negativity of the world: it can’t bring you down unless you let it get inside of you. We cannot control what happens around us, but we can control our reaction to it. May your day be peaceful, my friends. 😊

Seriously NEJM 🤔
“Excessive breastfeeding”
What the flip is that???
Such a prejudicial term 😳🙁😠😡
One third of people worldwide have at least one micronutrient deficiency. National surveys provide cross-sectional data, but inferring causality between deficiency and disease is difficult. Read the latest Nutrition in Medicine article: nej.md/4ith0um

He did not know the families he helped, but I knew some of them and shared his story. So proud to live in a nation that has an entirely voluntary blood donation pool.

Remarkable generosity
We were so fortunate that science found a way to overcome Rh incompatibility and that newer technologies (NIPT) give us other options
Thank you James, you helped people unknown to you, but known to me ❤️
