Man, I just watched the original Twilight Zone ep "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet" for the first time. Maybe this is stating the obvious, but compared to the movie remake, it reads a lot more clearly like a war PTSD analog.

Has anyone watched the movie Don't Turn Out the Lights? I've been driving myself mad for two days trying to figure out what was going on. I keep thinking if I piece all the clues together there will be some super clear-cut answer, like "The RV is a metaphor for smartphones."

Finally upgraded to Windows 11. People like to diss it, but I just discovered they got rid of the sticky keys thing where pressing or holding Shift too much makes stuff happen. This is a major feature for fidgety bastards like me.

I know Soul Steal is already OP in Symphony of the Night, but it would've been cool if it generated an absolute buttload of souls when you did it on Granfaloon. Or some other unique effect.

In business Japanese, people use the phrase 恐縮です (kyôshuku desu) as an expression of humble gratitude or apology. Its equivalent in English would be like "Thanks for handling that," "I really appreciate it," or maybe "Sorry to ask for this." But them kanji mean TERROR and SHRINK.

I think this might be the only case I've ever seen of the game being better than the book.
It is unfathomable to me that people beat this game in the '80s with no internet and no save states. Frankenstein, Death, and Dracula alone each took 50~100 attempts. If I had to redo the entire stage every three of those, I would simply not like video games.

It's funny how in Castlevania 1 you can upgrade your whip to maximum strength immediately by just collecting two of those bow and arrows(?) that fall out of candles but in Castlevania 2 you have to grind for hours, travel all over the country, and also have random chance encounters with wizards(?)

Been playing through Simon's Quest this week, and although it's arguably very bad, I kind of love it. The music, the mystery, the epic screen shake when you drive an oak stake into an orb. Also, Dracula's looming figure looks like the Count Magus Lee reveal in Vampire Hunter D. 😗👌

There's a translator tendency to match カッコいい 1:1 with "cool." I'm not big on that. "Cool" has a slangy nuance that doesn't always fit, especially when the カッコいい refers to something abstract, like someone's mindset or maturity.

Rewatching the Night of the Living Dead remake. It's remarkable how much better Tony Todd is than everyone else in this. He rescues the whole movie.
