Kharkiv is currently enduring the most powerful attack since the start of the full-scale war. In just an hour and a half, at least 40 explosions have rocked the city. The enemy is simultaneously striking with missiles, drones, and guided aerial bombs - Kharkiv mayor

Trump wants to abandon Ukraine, but the American people don't. Fellow Americans, please call your representatives!

Also, let's show the Ukrainian people that we stand with them: Donate to your favorite Ukrainian fundraiser (such as Sternenko's drone fund) today!

Americans! There are a still a LOT of congresspeople who support Ukraine, even GOP. Many of them sincerely hate Russia, and this could break them from Trump. Whoever you voted for, it's our responsibility to try. Contact your member and tell them WE ARE NOT RUSSIA!

We all know that when you meet a Dr. of Medicine at a party, it’s gauche to ask them to diagnose your ailments.

But also remember that when socializing with a Dr. of Philosophy, they don’t want to hear about your “philosophy”. If you want their expertise, enroll in their class, or buy their book.

Happy new year, everyone. I’ve not been on here much lately so allow me to introduce myself again, I’m Lee and I like to paint abandoned, isolated buildings in familiar yet otherworldly settings.

I don’t wanna be a typical Yankee who opines about the US/Mexico border without actually having researched it. So I’ve been hiking and picnicking along the border wall for three winters now. Instead of finding any clear answers, I only have a zillion more questions.

Today in Shelby Park, Eagle Pass, TX, on the Mexican border, amid the 700 crucifixes commemorating the 700 migrants who died in 2023 crossing the Rio Grande. A year ago, the National Guard seized this park. To enter, you pass through a checkpoint of apple-cheeked young Guardsmen toting machine guns.

I always assumed the Creedence lyric “Proud Mary keep on burning. Rolling, rolling, rolling on the river” was about rolling marijuana doobies. But I just read the Wikipedia page, and it seems it’s truly just about a boat named Mary Elizabeth, and the “rolling” line comes from a Will Rogers movie. 🤷‍♂️

Song title notwithstanding, this is a *perfect* indie pop gem – a scant 90 seconds of manic bewilderment about people saying “hello”.

Don’t cry when it ends too soon. Just play it over and over again, and you’ll forget all your pains.

I see why Paul Anka rewrote these lyrics. At first the protagonist sounds like a creepy blue-balled necrophile, but then we see he’s just a dude whining that his lady doesn’t desire him. (Maybe stop being so passive aggressive, bro!)

If Sinatra’d sung such words he would’ve spontaneously combusted.

Chet Atkins put out a zillion LPs of lightweight country instrumentals, but a long time ago he made one album intended for kids to rock out to.
Here, with a little fire under his ass, Chet leaves aside his dainty finger-picking and just lays into the chonky rhythm. As close to punk as Chet ever got

“We ride limos, too!” - Bring the Noise, Public Enemy

“Letters make words and sentences makes paragraphs” - Quality Control, Jurassic 5

“A nice big plate of fish, which is my favorite dish” - Paid in Full, Erik B & Rakim
