"I've seen the footage, tell them that was a nice shot. No idea how the hells the Faleans laid their hands on an SSF, especially with the embargo, but that's bad news. I'll talk to the admiralty about it during the council."

Day 4: Freighter

Ion-powered gravel bags are easily the most numerous cargo spacecraft in human space, powering the industry of a thousand worlds. Billions of tons of asteroid material traverse the solar system on multi-decade trajectories at any given time

Day 9: Hunter

A remote, signal collecting spacecraft makes a low pass over Despina. Her antenna is turned away from noisy Neptune, facing outward into the high orbits... listening sharply, hunting.

She is one of many thousands in the outer Solar System.

Day 11: Dropship

In the first decade of Calphis settlement (while the starships were still being deconstructed), precious shuttles couldn't be risked on bulk cargo shipments. Instead, early Calphians used cheap, disposable pods to deliver material to the surface.

So missile defense is a big topic thanks to “Golden Dome” and it has a lot of arms control advocates up in arms. Although I think the admin is 1) dumb and 2) poisoning the well on BMD, this is a good time to consider Alvin Weinbergs idea of “Defense Protected Build Down”.

The IPFV Isaac Arthur, a fusion-powered interplanetary spaceship with 782 km/s dV and liquid droplet radiators.

Its 51 GW drive has a really interesting cycle involving a neutron-pumped reactor laser flashing X-rays to ignite D-D pellets.

Star-Raker was a tri-delta flying-wing single-stage-to-orbit space plane proposed first in 1968 for the Space Shuttle Program, then again 10 years later as a launcher for Solar Power Satellite components.

An oil painting I did based on a paper by Brian O'Leary about the merits of the Censorinus crater area as an ideal location for a Lunar mass driver, a device now known as a 'rail gun' that throws a stream of packets of Lunar material to a processing facility floating beyond the Lunar far side.
