It was hard to get good results from the old diffusion models. But when you struck gold it was so compelling! You can't replicate this aesthetic with modern models. I've tried, but they're told coherent.

I tried to ask DeepSeek R1 in Finnish if it thinks privately in English first before answering in Finnish. It thought in English and then answered in Finnish saying there's no hidden processing and everything happens in Finnish.

The thing that is hard to get about LLMs is that we expected AI to be awesome at math & be all cool logic.
Instead, AI is best at human-like tasks (eg writing) & is all hot, weird simulated emotion. For example, if you make GPT-3.5 “anxious,” it changes its behavior! arxiv.org/abs/2304.11111

I'll always remember how, right from the beginning of the pandemic, all the public announcements emphasised how many of the people killed had pre-existing conditions.
As if people with pre-existing conditions weren't full people, weren't just as full of life, just as loved as anyone else.
