between the tariffs and genAI it makes any art that crosses your path, indie or mainstream, a hard-fought miracle. really appreciate the creativity you see because artists of all stripes are really working against an avalanche intent on burying us

p.s. authors, your editor cannot review your book. as much as we would love to and as much as we can help promote in other ways, it is considered a commercial conflict on most platforms and can even run the risk of getting your book banned.

The part of your brain the creates and the part of your brain that edits are different. When you edit while writing, you switch your mode of thinking and can gum up the works, so to speak, knocking yourself out of your groove. Correct obvious mistakes, but knock out your pages and edit them after.

Hey, #booksky! Say hi to Emily. Her beautiful M/M historical romance, the 11th Code, had me copyediting through my tears—and she's currently writing her first fantasy novel. So excited to see her on here!

Book research is its own hobby. I could dig around for books I want to read all day. I could go to a bookstore and look at every spine, every cover, read every synopsis.

One of my greatest freelancing joys has been the freedom to spread my wings as a night owl, which generally has not been a problem—until Bluesky. I keep thinking of editing-related tweets at 1 a.m. 😂 Anyone know of a way to schedule posts? #writersky

Of course! Bear with me here, as this will be a bit of a thread. (1) Are there any familiar phrases or cliches? E.g., describing characters by eye and hair colour, or opening scenes with a character waking up. In other words, what differentiates your story and prose from other authors' work?
I’ve been self-editing my first three drafts of my WIP “Can’t You Hear It?” All of which have been pretty developmental focused with some minor line fixes. Anyone have any tips on doing a thorough line edit? #writingcommunity #booksky #horrorwriting #author #bookediting
