Elliott and Rossio one time talked to me about the notion of "distant mountains" as a way to do this kind of thing. It's fine to show distant mountains without actually going to them or even pointing them out. The audience sees them and if they want to imagine what's there, they can.

Looking through the #SDCC schedule has me chomping at the bit, we’re so back.

I’m playing in an Isekai-style ttrpg campaign with various fictional characters (Kermit, Professor McGonagall, etc); I made my PC Syril from Andor, and this may be my favorite character I’ve ever played. He’s truly horrible. And he has to work with like, cartoon characters.

This is why the gradual erasing of every superhero’s secret identity is a net negative for comics.

Superhero stories need secret IDs and supporting characters who aren’t heroes. Otherwise the world soon has the depth of a kiddie pool
Superhero civilian supporting cast is more important to the long-term health of a superhero comic than cameos by other superheroes.

Happy Father’s Day to my amazing dad! I still hold this opinion.
Happy Father’s Day to all the dads! Flash back to 19 years ago when our then-3 year old daughter was interviewed on CBC Canada for Father’s Day:

You fight for a zygote, but cheer when a child is ripped from a mother‘s arms by ICE.
Tells me everything I need to know about you.

Just finished Lower Decks! Baby’s first Star Trek. It’s tragic it’s taken me so long to get to it.

Watching Star Trek TOS for the first time! Wild to see where it all began.

Our double feature is finished! Slow start, but the second half of M:I8 plus Thunderbolts made for a fun finish.
Doing a double feature on Monday—matinee Mission: Impossible, then Thunderbolts immediately after. Suffice it to say, I’m not leaving that theater until the sun sets.

I have a head canon that Andor takes place inside the star wars universe. there's so many subtle nods to it that I think the writers must have done that on purpose.

Going to play dnd for the first time in over two months, and it feels like going home. Listening to my character playlist on the commute—I’ve missed this.

I went to the Pride and Prejudice 20th Anniversary Ball last night, and it was absolutely stunning. @focusfeatures.bsky.social put on a real show—wish I could relive it!

Watching the Lower Decks season one finale was just me nodding like, yep, that’s a cameo. I do not know the significance. But I know it’s a cameo.

In a bit of a strange move, I’ve started watching Star Trek: Lower Decks because it’s a good comp for a spec. This is the very first Star Trek I’ve ever consumed. And honestly? I’m really digging it.

This jeweled skeleton comes from the Waldsassen Basilika in Germany, the “Sistine Chapel of Death.” Skilled nuns, or occasionally monks, dressed the skeletons in elaborate 18th-century clothing and then covered them with jewels.

Googled to see if the Andor scripts have been released and instead found an Andor spec script. Truly gutted that I didn’t consider that possibility until it was too late. Worse—a season two spec script would be SO much fun to write.

Well, the cool ones are screenwriters.
How did the Joneses corner the market on being kept up with? How did they make their money? What was their vocation?

I think I need to rewatch the finale tomorrow. Maybe the whole season, actually. Or the whole series. Maybe all of Star Wars.
