there's a third year who's really smart and I like a lot. but he's smart in a really goofy way. everything he knows is from directly learning about it. like I asked if knew about the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald and he said yes but didn't know there was a song about it.

I do believe in scientific realism but I think all current scientific theories are only instrumentally true. When you're right you just know—you don't need to check.

was wondering when I was gonna have to change the batteries in my bidet only to realize—to my horror—bidets are not "powered" by anything. they just tap into the existing pressure in the water line. modern electric amenities have ruined my understanding of the world. I'm cooked.
