Why does “minor” now mean <19?

And I wish these articles would include data on the number of surgeries actually performed on “minors”.

In 2019, of 151 breast reduction procedures performed on minors nationally, 97% were for cis boys.

Stanford Medicine ends surgeries for transgender minors amid pressure from Trump administration
As Children's Hospital Los Angeles scales back healthcare for trans youth, Stanford Medicine has stopped performing gender-affirming surgeries on patients younger than 19.

I don't really know how to interpret this other than the Republican party is now pro-fascism.

86% of Republicans support "Trump sending the National Guard and Marines to respond to the L.A. protests"

Marines doing domestic law enforcement is illegal! How is it so popular?

We asked 1,000 Americans about the L.A. protests. This is how they responded.

1. Terrifying news for transgender people across the United States. In a late night development, the House Spending Bill was amended to ban transgender coverage for transgender ADULTS on medicaid!

A manager's amendment removed the words "for minors."

Who else would you want making an appearance?

Wait, what about that plush tiny screw gig I was promised by Lutnick?
Trump exempting computers & phones from the tariffs today means that Chinese-made laptops now have lower tariffs than European Cars, Mexican Steel, & Canadian Lumber.

Also means Vietnamese-made laptops have a lower tariff than Ethiopian coffee, Indian tea, & Guatemalan bananas

CJ: Sam, I’m going to need you to remember I’m a very smart and sophisticated woman who graduate summa cum laude from Berkeley

Sam: I *do* think you’re a very smart and sophisticated woman

CJ: Good, because now I need you to explain tariffs to me as if I’m an idiot

Actually *being* trans is a less significant part of my personality than having once competed against a trans woman is for these "influencers".

And yes, I played D1 (pre-transition) so I get elite competition.

Being a former D1 player is also a less significant part of my personality ...

This might be the most terrifying thing I've ever read.

Truly, this reads like the prequel to a dystopian novel set a few years later, in which all speech, movement, relationships, task completion, and interactions are tracked and used by a vindictive, malevolent govt.

And yes, we were warned.

How is MS Word still SO BAD when it comes to CV and other formats? Trying to update mine and it's like a comedy of errors.

I delete one entry and suddenly have 2 new blank pages inserted.

Try to add a bullet point and suddenly the margins are all over the place.

So frustrating

Chris: CJ, why isn’t POTUS receiving the fallen US soldiers from Lithuania?

CJ: The president doesn’t like to use our troops as political props

Danny: But he’s ok with hosting a Saudi-backed golf tournament instead?

CJ: ok, anyone but Danny

Danny: C’mon CJ…

CJ: That’s a full lid, everyone

Josh: tell him to stop looking

Donna: but Joooosshh -

Josh: I don’t know what to tell you, he should’ve voted for the other guy

Donna: he did!

I’d be fired if I started a group chat with a bunch of colleagues and sent protected patient information they didn’t need… and accidentally included the hospital’s HIPAA Compliance Officer.

And I’d deserve it.

Today I lost an NIH grant training clinicians to do research about intimate partner violence with perinatal women.

More women are murdered in the perinatal period than die of obstetric complications.

I didn't just lose a grant. We lost an entire cohort of people building careers to prevent that.

Watching the Schumer interview with @chrislhayes.bsky.social. Other people have made the real points, but:

- Schumer starts by complaining that the book is "upside down" on screen (it wasn't). Sounds sniveling and also NO ONE CARES ABOUT THE BOOK, CHUCK!

INCREDIBLE Ruling!

Judge Reyes just ruled that transgender people have served honorably in the military, judges Trumps trans military ban - which states trans people are inherently dishonorable - as unconstitutional and motivated by animus.

Trans military members may continue to serve.
