Not the point but “gender-critical” is such a weird term, both in context and out.

I was super gender-critical, which is why I transitioned…

CJ: (deep sigh) I guess I’ll just pivot to our progress on immigration. There must be good news out of the Supreme Court I can use

Sam: Yeah, about that…

-fin-

How’d I do @hrishikesh.co, @bradleywhitford.bsky.social, @lawrenceodonnell.msnbc.com ?

Sam: I know

CJ: (deep breath) ok well we must be doing this for a good reason

Sam: …

CJ: Sam? What’s our reason?

Sam: Well, you know, it’s a little hard to explain

CJ: Try

Sam: I don’t know, CJ. He just really likes the word

CJ: Well I can’t say that to the press.

Sam: No, I wouldn’t

April 11, 2025 at 12:49 PM
CJ: That’s not our position?

Sam: Right

CJ: Ok well that doesn’t make much sense to me but what do I know, I don’t even own stocks. But the market must be loving this, right?

Sam: Well, actually, no

CJ: No?

Sam: Well they like rumors that we’re lifting the tariffs

CJ: Sam

April 11, 2025 at 12:49 PM
CJ: A trade deficit, meaning we sell them more than they sell us?

Sam: Yes! See, you know more than you think you do!

CJ: Ok but Sam, shouldn’t we be selling more stuff to (checks list in stack of papers) Tunisia than they sell to us?

Sam: That’s not our position

April 11, 2025 at 12:49 PM
CJ: Well then why would we do that

Sam: To promote US manufacturing

CJ: We can manufacture everything we need here?

Sam: Well, hypothetically, yes

CJ: Hypothetically?

Sam: Yes. As in maybe, in the future

CJ: Ok…

Sam: But they also punish countries for having a trade deficit with us

April 11, 2025 at 12:49 PM
Sam: Everything is pretty broad, CJ. Why don’t you tell me what you know and we’ll go from there

CJ: Well, the ya know, general oeuvre is that it’s a tax on countries who sell goods to the US

Sam: Ah, ok, see we’re learning here. The tax is actually on us

CJ: On us?

Sam: Yep

April 11, 2025 at 12:49 PM
Sam: But I just saw you talk about tariffs from the podium, you did great

CJ: Yeah, I can do that, but I was faking it

Sam: You were faking it?

CJ: Yep

Sam: How often are you up there fak - you know what, I don’t want to know. What don’t you understand about tariffs?

CJ: Everything

I think this is going to be true across all sorts of sectors. People are going to crave human touches, idiosyncrasy, niche tastes, and maybe above all, the ability to be pleasantly surprised by experiences

And even if I did think trans women in sports was an unsolved problem (I don't b/c it isn't), it would still rank way behind things like sending innocent people to notoriously violent prisons in other countries and refusing to bring them back. For example.
