The Senate voted 50–46 tonight to block Trump’s tariffs on Canada, and yesterday it voted to block his tariffs on Brazil. Now we need the house to vote. Where’s the House? Is Johnson still guarding the Epstein files?

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) declaring he won't call the House of Representatives into session until JANUARY at the earliest, means this isn't a shut-down.
This is a #RepublicanCOUP.

Much of America is afraid. Afraid of the government. Afraid of their fellow citizens. Afraid America’s legal and judicial institutions will no longer protect them. If Americans don't wake up, organize, and fight harder to defend the rule of law, we'll find ourselves living in an authoritarian system

Law for me but not for thee.
Two federal prosecutors were placed on leave after seeking a stiff sentence for a Jan. 6 defendant who had been granted clemency and later appeared armed outside the home of former President Barack Obama.

We were just notified that cell-site simulators were used during the No Kings protests in several cities. Fortunately, we planned for this. Portland, Houston, Philadelphia, and Chicago were among the targeted locations. If you’re attending protests, please remember to follow protocol.

The Supreme Court announcing that a president cannot not be held criminally liable for virtually anything he does in office based on nothing in the text, structure, or history of the Constitution was extremely bad, IMHO

I’ll say it again. Not only did they invent this theory. They CHOSE to deliver it to THIS guy, a dangerous raving selfish moron. They could have waited four years and given it all to President Vance or whatever. They chose to give it to Trump.

there are good & worthwhile historical & legal arguments for why the unitary executive is nonsense but to my mind the most straightforward argument is that it makes no logical sense that the president has absolute removal power over the people whose job it is to keep the executive branch accountable
The Inspector General system is basically broken now. Most IGs have been fired, most positions remain vacant. Those who remain or would take the job pose no risk to holding the regime accountable.
Congress added more barriers to Trump firing IGs after his first term. He just ignored them.

Whenever you hear someone invoke the unitary executive, remember the image below.

This was an inevitable result of the unitary executive theory:
Empowering a president to tyrannically destroy institutions that ensured our government reflects the rule of law rather than his personal whim.

What's "small" here is John Fetterman, a person so weak of mind and devoid of principles, so used to the lazy grift he switched to after winning office, that he won't even criticize corruption so brazen it has no parallel in American history, the President literally paying himself a fortune.
Fetterman describes Trump trying to steal $230 million from taxpayers as "small ball, and I think we have much bigger problems than worrying about those things."

There is no difference between Trump destroying the East Wing and using a wrecking ball on the Washington Monument or Smithsonian. Just because he (temporarily) lives there doesn't give him the right to demolish the White House without Congressional approval.

It probably doesn’t matter but I would be flooding the zone with images of the White House destruction right now.
