This is really good and pertinent:

“Companies’ algorithms are designed to maximize engagement, so a post that receives likes, shares and comments will be shown to more people.”
OPINION: "Today’s researchers have identified similar patterns in how misinformation and disinformation...spreads online," Julia Walsh writes. "… Likes, shares and retweets become proxies for truth. Emotional content designed to shock or outrage spreads far and fast."
Opinion | Today’s Misinformation Crisis Is the Modern Witch Hunt
Julie Walsh writes how modern-day misinformation found on social media holds a stark parallel to 15th to 17th century witchcraft hysteria.

As succinct as it gets.
Jeffries: There are three big issues with the bill

1. It represents the largest cut to healthcare in American history.
2. It represents the largest cut to nutritional assistance in American history.
3. All of this is being done to enact the largest tax break for billionaires in American history.

Gabe Vasquez is a representative from the state where I live. This demonstration doesn't even include beans, which would make complete protein. Six dollars a day will make kids starve, have worse health, and harm their learning and growth.

Tortilla and chile is a snack. $6/day is a crime.
Republicans are absolutely despicable. Every single one of them should not be office.

Pritzker for the win! THANK YOU for taking a stand against this bizarre attack on people with autism. Hoping other governors do the same. Looking at you @govmlg.bsky.social. Don't be passive about this.

I saw the best description of what Paramount is doing on the CBS 60 minutes description of the lawyer shakedowns. They are giving money to the government in exchange for specific official actions. They are paying a bribe, which is a crime.
news: A group of U.S. senators, including Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, are urging Shari Redstone, Paramount's controlling shareholder, not to settle President Trump's lawsuit against "60 Minutes."

If any of y'all are interested in combating medical mis/disinformation, here is a tool that may be helpful: openevidence.com. you type in a question (e.g., Do vaccines cause autism?), and it provides the answer (NO), and explanation, and also (importantly) reference articles.

Weirdo opinions vs. settled science = science rules. RFK Jr. has absolutely no idea about what he is talking about and has provided no evidence and thus has no credibility in re: his harmful messages.

“Of course, the White House and other Republicans haven’t said a word about this,” @mariocarrillo.bsky.social continues, “but it’s important that we let that sink in: a mass murderer believed he was acting on behalf of the president of the United States.”
"The admission from a convicted murderer that he felt he was doing the president’s work in carrying out the El Paso massacre should be a reminder about the dangerous consequences of immigration rhetoric that dehumanizes, inflames, and misinforms."

My piece to @elpasomatters.bsky.social
Felt like this needed more attention. We can't overlook that the El Paso shooter recently said that his actions were motivated by Donald Trump's rhetoric. As an El Pasoan, this piece for me is personal, and sadly, not much has changed in terms of the GOP's rhetoric. elpasomatters.org/2025/04/16/o...

So, maybe the way for us to ratio Sam Bregman out of the governor's race is to set record after record in count of small donors giving to Deb Haaland? I'm going to give through Act Blue for now, but can somebody make her a website to make this race clear? secure.actblue.com/donate/ads_m...
I just gave to Deb Haaland!

It's critical for everyone to remember what an Executive Order is. It is the President communicating orders to members of the executive branch. Policies to pursue, actions to take, etc. They are not laws. They are not close to being laws. They are formalized memos to employees. That's all.
