I'll be at nts.live playing some dreamy feedback-driven tunes related to my Czech shoegaze book Šeptej nahlas. First-wavers Ecstasy of St. Theresa next to the loose scene of local experimentalists like Päfgens, sleepswimming, Sunnbrella or Black Tar Jesus. Tune in at 7PM London time (6PM CET).

Funny to see people on here respond to the pope's death by sagely denouncing the catholic church to their bluesky mutuals as if it's a risky, tough stance. "I'm not buying the woke pope stuff" Great work, Jello Biafra. What next, a truth bomb about where your parents Actually go during peekaboo?

First non-Dublin band I saw live. McGonagles, c.1991. I remember my dad being absolutely puzzled that they would name themselves after a showroom on Dorset Street. Whipping Boy opened for them. Still vividly recall walking home in the rain, dazed by the beautiful noise.
The list of bands I’ve overheard in cafes and pubs and thought, Why are you playing Kitchens Of Distiction?
1. Interpol
2. The National

It’s a shame that Kitchens Of Distiction had such a shit name as I think Millennials would have liked them.

Today someone was telling me about the domestic squalor Maggie Smith lived in, all smashed windows and broken doors, and wondering how his various wives put with it, and only afterwards did I realise they had been talking about Mark E Smith.

My favourite genres are:

1 - cheerful first stanza, massive pullback, sadness
2 - birds, and therefore the soul
3 - mountains, and therefore god / no god
4 - plants, plus soon I will die
5 - I love you, but not enough to be nice in the couplet
