The USPS posting a NINE BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!! sounds terrible. Certainly worse than if you said "USPS costs thirty dollars per person per year" even though that means the same thing and more accurately describes a government service

“We found over 35 cases in which the judges have specifically said what the government is providing…false information. It might be intentionally false information, including false sworn declarations time and again," says Ryan Goodman, law professor at New York University.

Yes, there were 7 million. But standing on the corner where cars had to stop for a signal, fully 60% honked or gave us a sly thumbs up. Only one a$&hole in two hours. That says something.

Here is my best guidance, rendered beautifully by the great John Lithgow. I first published these lessons nearly nine years ago, in late 2016. They open the twenty chapters of "On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century."

A bit of advice from @hcrichardson.bsky.social was to share with people the independent media or individuals who we trust to provide reliable information (and/or snarky commentary).
So @talkingpointsmemo.com and founder @joshtpm.bsky.social for the former and @gtconway.bsky.social for the latter.

4-way stop
And if you get to wave someone on, or you are waved on, there is a moment of graciousness that takes you through your driving day.
Round-abouts are efficient, but they don’t create the momentary community of the 4-way stop.

4-way stops
You have to make eye contact, know that you are seen, and show that you see.
And when you go through the intersection, everyone knows they’ve done it right, there’s a sense of satisfaction.

4-way stops
In my new town, there is a plethora of 4-way stops. They require that people pay attention to who got there first, to have patience until it’s “your turn,” even the grace to say “go ahead,” when whose turn is not clear.

Community through 4-Way Stops?
My previous town had few 4-way stops. People didn’t know what to do. It was a game; who got here first? What should we do? And then there were the jerks who just always roll through stop signs

Explain to me why even CNN chooses to use the word “deal,” rather than the diplomacy term “treaty.” Is everything now Trumps art if the capitalist deal?

AOC: When they say illegal vs legal immigration—they are trying to end legal status in the US making people undocumented and then they have the audacity to call them illegal when they were here documented.

Brown shirts (Nazi thugs) liked to roam the streets starting fights with protesters, Union members, leftists. Then they claimed they were saving the Germans from lawlessness.

After rolling back many of his tariffs Trump had Charles Schwab and others in the Oval Office.

He pointed out that his guests had made fortunes on the stock market just one hour after his announcement.

“He made 2.5 billion today and he made $900 million. That’s not bad.”
