Should Gibb be sacked? yes, obviously. He's an abomination of basic journalistic standards. His GB News channel spreads conspiracy theory & disinformation. His Jewish Chronicle newspaper spreads invented stories. He is plainly trying to undermine the BBC so it's as bad as everything else he touches.

Their response, following my complaint on behalf of XR, was that disclosure would have “the potential to damage the reputation and distress trustees” and that “the greater public interest lies in withholding information”

In January 2025 the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries and Exeter University published a report that warned that 4 billion people could be killed at 3°C of global heating. It also warned that the strength of the various climate feedbacks means we could reach 3°C of global heating by the year 2050.

When I was in southern France last year, the crops had failed to the extent that a neighbouring farmer, seeing which way the wind was blowing, had switched from tomatoes to Spirolina, a famine crop. Desertification creeps northwards…

Africa is skipping the polluting and planet-wrecking fossil fuel era entirely.

Solar grids and clean tech at massive scale mean that once-dark village are glowing with renewable light.

The future isn’t coming from the West — it’s rising in the South.

What have we become
No sudden rupture is now required for the far right to take power in this country. For what we're seeing is a steady normalisation of extremists by the Conservative and Labour Parties, BBC, Telegraph, Mail and others. A shift once considered unthinkable beings to look acceptable, even inevitable.🧵

Has anyone else been dealing with some serious headline whiplash recently?

Even for those of us who follow #climate and #energy matters closely, it can be hard to know what the hell is going on!

So here's a thread to help climate communicators get a grip on how to deal with this 🧵
