Stay strong. For us, this is more than just a job-it’s a calling. Together, we will stand to protect our parks, environment, and wildlife. Four years… we remain hopeful that the attack on our public lands will be less brutal this time.

A little bit of snow in H-town. So far the power is still on, though my trust in the state to keep it on is pretty low.

So today is a good moment to pause and remind yourselves: You are not the crazy ones for remembering what actually happened. And it is up to us to keep the historical record intact.

The combined net worth of America's twelve wealthiest people passed $2 trillion last year.

12 people. $2 trillion.

Meanwhile, U.S. homelessness increased 18% in 2024.

Our problem isn’t an issue of resources.

Our problem is ever-expanding wealth inequality.

I had the pleasure of seeing Ken Burns. Important point he made was:

The line, pursuit of happiness, meant the pursuit of lifelong learning not accumulation of things. Also, that without an educated populace we are back to subjects vs citizens.

When I was a child, I learned that the Constitution didn’t apply to people like us. I said the Pledge of Allegiance from inside a barbed wire camp, the words “with liberty and justice for all” wholly meaningless.

But I did not give up on America. I’ve spent my life fighting for its ideals.
When we were children, we were taught that no matter how you reached, no matter much wealth and power you accumulated, you were not above the law.

We can no longer teach our children that.

And that's really fucking tragic.

Currently at the NCSS Conference in Boston. When people see I’m from Texas they ask if I’m OK. No, we are not OK in Texas. 😭😭😭

This is an image of education in TX right now.
