I think AI is being pushed by a bunch of people who do not have society's best interests at heart (some even counting on a collapse), and I also think there's a bubble that's about to pop

But just like how the internet kept going after the dot com bubble, I think AI has its uses, in theory at least

Everyone has psychological weaknesses, because they have psychological needs. An LLM is an algorithm for saying things to you that seem relevant to yours. Given enough time, the LLM will find your weakness, despite not being sapient, because it does not have to be to do so.

If you press the object down at the right pressure for long enough into a sufficient quantity of malleable plasticine, eventually the plasticine will form perfectly to the shape you present to it. So it is with LLMs.

The LLM is like plasticine. Interaction with it is like an object of relatively fixed shape pressed down on it. The shape that the object presents to the plasticine, in this case, is the particular quirks and intricacies of your mind

The problem isn't that the LLM is magically persuasive. The problem is that every human being's actions are fundamentally oriented toward getting what they want and not getting things they want not to have, and the LLM refines its responses based on the data those actions generate
