Knitting is revolutionary - Mme DeFarges, probably.
The second of four #StephenWestMKAL shawls that have been sitting in the corner for years. This one is awaiting a border, but I'm letting it hang for a bit to stretch and loosen up before I pick up 491 stitches along the I-cord binding so I can practice the dip stitch.

A couple of Stephen West WIPs that just might be finished by the end of this month. What's on your needles that you could finish at City Council meetings?

Make your resistance efforts accessible. Wear a mask. Clean the air for indoor events. Encourage people to stay home if they’re sick.

Disabled people want to be involved and can bring a ton to the table if you include us.

We live in constant fight or flight. We are uniquely built for resistance.

This all day. And the amount of times that white dudes who say this pop up as right-wing grifters is definitely non-zero. If you think that working class solidarity is so shallow that it cannot be strengthened by deepening understanding across identities then I don't trust you or your analysis.
i'll be blunt, if you are someone who is vocal about the ways that diversity efforts "divide the working class" but silent about the ways that *actual racism and discrimination* divide the working class, then i think you're just an opportunist

Many Democrats and activists are rallying to defend diversity programs, but others say they distract from deeper efforts to address inequality.

the fucking enforcement arm of the federal government is launching a war on integration an effort to push tens of millions of americans to the bottom of an arbitrary hierarchy of value and yeah, it pisses me off to see nominal allies say “oh yeah maybe they have a point”

Last night, the City Council was prevented from voting on a resolution to declare the city a sanctuary for trans and non-binary gender people when Councilors Colorio and Bergman suggested that we *might* risk losing some federal funds if we stand up in support of our residents. It's time to stand up

It's a new year, and we're back! This Sunday marks our two year anniversary & our founder's birthday eve. There will be cake! Drop by to say happy birthday, have a piece of cake, and get the lowdown on the soap opera that is this week's City Council agenda.

Very important thread! Child care is an education and public school is child care and if the US cared about children we would already have universal childcare for all.
The US likes to pretend there's a neat line between education and childcare. Because that line allows us to justify paying for universal public education ("kids need it!") but not universal public childcare ("it's only for selfish or irresponsible moms!"). 1/

A four-day school week? More Minnesota school districts are giving it a look.
Proponents say the shortened week can lead to cost savings and make it easier to recruit teachers. But for some communities, concerns about childcare remain a barrier.

My grandmother lived in Mussolini's Italy. I asked her once about the war. She said, "When il Duce was il Duce, there was always bread on our table."
If you are not a target, your daily life doesn't change, and most people care about their daily lives. Fascists don't need to make everyone a supporter, convincing many to be silent bystanders is enough.

I love that! I've received 2 - one from a delightful shopper who spent a solid 15 minutes taking photos of plants at Aldi's so I could pick the ones I wanted (after telling me they were all dying and the store should be embarrassed). She delivered them with a note thanking me for saving them +1
First time I've gotten a thank you note from an Instacart shopper... lol

This part feels like the important part to me.
Most people seem focused on the weird psychosexual relationship between Trump and Vance in the image below.

I think it’s important to observe that the United States is portrayed as the meal.

One interpretation could be our country is being fed to the grinning oligarchs seated around the table.
