Great graphs of party positions based on Chapel Hill Expert Survey. @medzihorsky.bsky.social makes great data visualizations. Follow him for more.

Notice how little variation the Hungarian parties show on left-right dimension on economy. Apparently it's not all about the economy.
Europe's political parties in the new CHES data @chesdata.bsky.social at a glance: the political compass space. With apologies to Iceland, which didn't fit onto the chart

In this space, the party systems fall into two broad patterns

1) 🟦 vs 🟩

2) 🟥 vs 🟨

No way to spin this exit poll.

Left+Prog. parties (BIJ1, SP, PvdD, GL-PvdA, Denk, Volt) would collectively lose 14 seats compared to 2021

Right (CU, NSC, VVD, CDA, 50+, BBB, SGP) would gain 3

Far-right (PVV, FVD, JA21) would gain 11

The Netherlands will join an increasingly long list of West European countries (CH, FR, IT, SE) where the radical right has overtaken the mainstream right as the main party of the right. A watershed moment for liberal democracies.
