Het is het wezen van Europa zelf dat door de VS tot vijand gemaakt is.

It is not Chinese communism, Russian autocracy, or Islamic extremism but rather European liberal democracy.”

Almost noon in Kyiv, and it's finally all clear. This massive combined 10h air raid was extremely exhausting, with barrages of ballistic and cruise missiles and four waves of drones targeting the energy grid and families in their sleep.

Vrolijk kerstfeest!

This piece is a great illustration of how the long-term effect of Trump’s destruction of US institutions won’t be felt in a dramatic market collapse, but rather in permanently worse economic conditions, and lower prosperity.

The EU showed that it works. It not only functions. But at a really high level. It's policy proposals are rigorous. It's leaders are determined to act. And it finds ways hammer out policy agreements, make compromises, squeeze obstacles (or pay them off), to make progress. 7/

The EU never gets praise even when it acts. There is so much constant EU negging that commentators struggle to praise when it delivers. The EU did what it needed to do. Take the win.

Last night was a big step for Ukraine and the European project.

First, the EU got the money for Ukraine 1/

All this talk of Europe divided... of course it is "divided." It is a federal democratic continental sized union. There will always be some division. But it is striking how united it actually it is on the big issues, especially Ukraine, and how much it gets done.

The EU is getting stronger.

A great example of how the @nytimes.com centers white Americans and Trump supporters in its anecdotal political coverage. You never see stories like this about Black Democrats whose cities are cracked in Republican gerrymandering to give them Republican elected officials.
They Wanted a Conservative State. They Might Get a Democratic Representative Instead.

The passage of Proposition 50, which redrew California’s congressional map, means that all of the state’s conservative north is likely to be represented by Democrats.
