Want to avoid AI writing? Turns out Wikipedia has the answer
The best guide to spotting AI writing comes from Wikipedia | TechCrunch
Wikipedia's guide to “Signs of AI writing” is a great resource for learning to spot LLM-generated prose.

OH is that quoted bit the cause of the day's issues? Gosh, here's the real secret.

Many writers don't need to pretend that they make their money from the book; they do make their money from the books.

They're just poor. They make as much money as their neighbors who are CNAs or Walmart greeters. 🧵

I still have a bunch of Atari hardware. It’s always fun to see images like this, with the devices running free-range and crisp and clean and awesome.

Looks like a cool event!
I want to thank everyone that attended Atari Party today. Such a fun day and lots of amazing friends. #Atari

Bazzite people: how have you found running games from GoG, etc. in the OS?

Looking at the… plans?… Microsoft has for their OS, plus the absolute crap updates these last few years, I’m thinking of ditching Windows for good.

Today, instead of writing, I'm working on the paperback cover and polishing the interior layout.

The ebook is currently available for pre-order and will be released on December 25th.

The paperback will (probably) be released a few days before that.

Apps either work for you, or they don’t.

They are tools.

Discard the broken ones.

It’s time we all stopped settling for garbage.

I rid myself of three apps these last four days.

Spark email: for adding a floating AI button directly in the way, which could not be disabled.

Chrome: AI button popped up on the title bar.

Reuters: For repeatedly telling me I wasn’t subscribed. I was then. I am not now.

Chrome is officially off my machines now.

I’m just minding my damned business when a “Gemini” AI button shows up and starts nagging me.

This new trend of “randomly added AI button which nags you” in every piece of software is wild.

“Quiet, piggy” is a sign. Like black and red scales on a snake, like hearing “you have a purty mouth” drifting on the breeze out of a dark forest path.

People are disturbed by this — not because it’s silly or rude — but because it’s a window into what goes on in dark rooms when no one is watching.

Of all the short stories I've written over the years, this is one of my favourites. Something clicked.

I loved the character so much I then wrote DOGGED, an entire novel from a wardog POV.

DOGGED will be out Dec 15th.

Cover reveal coming soon from Grimdark Magazine!

Remember, folks: “content” is what’s in your pants after a bad burrito hits you during a long drive with no rest stops and, just as you get the cramps under control, you hit a particularly nasty pothole.

No one fills their pants with “art” when food poisoning sets in.
1000 times this. It's the worst when writers or illustrators or filmmakers apply that to their own works. So fucking degrading.
No other word has done more damage to the craft of writing in recent years than “content”. Even if you’re using the word “content” ironically, or as a cute little joke, don’t. When someone calls writing “content” they’re pissing on someone’s hard work & passion. “Content” is Technosatan’s henchword.

Here come the takes™, both for and against.

“Why this isn’t a big deal”
“Why this is the biggest deal ever”

Ignore them all.

These people won by being human against a backdrop of inhumanity. Horse-race specifics are immaterial and a waste of energy as they are always, 100% of the time, wrong.
