People are intent on holding the space. They have a fire pit and a wall of firewood to use on it, keeping each other warm as people filter in and out. Cars idle to drop off another batch of hot coffee or donuts or hand warmers. People don’t really know each other, but there’s an easiness among them.

i keep bitching about this but i ran a version of this on Friday without being patronizing or sounding like a boomer but now the NYT version is the one that keeps getting shared
