Tech guy working in the edtech space. Findboxes.co is my side hustle.
I'm learning Rust. Yesterday, I did a quick overview of borrowing and was confident I understood the concept. Today, I wrote a function that passes parameters to a fixed number of threads that process data in a loop. That humbled me. Now, I think, maybe I understand.

Anyone a rtmp protocol ninja? I'm looking to make a server as a project and looking for the best ways to learn the ins and outs. Already downloaded the white paper. What other resources can you share?

No matter how last night's fight ended, Jake Paul was going to look like an asshole. If he lost, he lost to a 60 year old guy. He won, he beat up a 60 year old guy.

Ok, I'm thinking about SSO for my app. I'm wondering why I would pick saml over oauth. CAS and ADFS support oauth. Oauth is definitely simpler to implement. But it seems more services go the saml route, why?

Hello, security engineer that has installed CrowdStrike on thousands of computers.

A thread on the outage and what is exactly happening.

Here’s a quick explainer on what *seems* to be the cause of the CrowdStrike outage and why it happened so quickly.

If I'm getting a base64 string representing a file from a web hook, is it better to save the string to the db and process later, save to disk and process later, or just decode the base64 string save the file in real time.

Don't know why, but it bothers me when I hear people say "pod" when referring to podcasts.

So my elastic search instance crashes after 3 days like clock work. I'm running on a vm with 2gb of ram. Not sure if that's the issue.

Today I was messing around with pygame and vkeyboard with a touchscreen. I noticed when touching the screen that touch events and mouse events fired off causing double type. Disabling one solved the issue. Is that normal?

Server configuration issues can be a pain. I noticed some of my postmark inbound email webhooks were failing. Too much data in the post. Had to adjust nginx, gunicorn, and Django request body sizes. Took me a few hours to figure that out.
