In many places, it is illegal to provide even basic legal advice (like help filling out a form) without a law degree.

This makes it impossible for people to afford the legal help they need.

Today, a panel of the 9th Circuit ruled @ij.org client Carlos Pena is not entitled to compensation after a SWAT team destroyed his shop while chasing a fugitive in 2022.

We'll ask the full Appeals Court to rehear this case.

In 2019, Judge Eric Eighmy jailed 2 innocent kids because they didn't want to go with their mom during a custody dispute.

A court ruled he wasn't entitled to judicial immunity.

Now, he wants qualified immunity.

In 2020, Rochester Police took $8,040 from Cristal Starling w/o suspecting her of a crime.
