In October 2020, police were serving warrants for Cristal's then-boyfriend, whom they suspected of dealing drugs.

When police raided Cristal's home, they found nothing illegal. Still, they seized $8,040 she was going to invest in her food cart business.

Call me a radical, but I don't think the cops should be able to just mash the middle characters of their keyboard as a justification for monitoring someone's every movement.

🍩VICTORY🍩

A federal court ruled that Conway, NH's attempt to force @ij.org's client Sean Young to take down a mural of donut mountains painted on Leavitt's Country Bakery by high school students is "unconstitutional"

The town is enjoined from enforcing the sign code against Leavitt's 🧵

BIG NEWS

Last year, @ij.org sued the town of Parksley, VA for retaliating against business owners Clemene Bastien & Theslet Benoir for speaking out against the town's food truck ban.

New docs, that the town mistakenly waived attorney-client privilege for, show EXACTLY how they retaliated 🧵

If you're going to spend millions of taxpayer dollars and trample on citizens' Fourth Amendment rights, by installing ALPRs, you would at least expect a better return on investment than a crime rate that barely changes and a clearance rate that barely changes.

Last April, a North Carolina SWAT team raided Avery Marshall & Alisa Carr's home, destroying their property, reinjuring Avery's recently-operated-on back and sending Alisa to the hospital with a panic attack.

It was the wrong house.

Today, Avery & Alisa teamed up with @ij.org to sue.🧵

In Martin v. United States, we're seeking to hold FBI agents accountable under the Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA), for a similar wrong house raid.

the FBI was supposed to be serving a warrant at 3741 Landau Lane in suburban Atlanta. Instead, they raided our clients' home at 3756 Denville Trace.

In Jimerson v. Lewis, we're seeking to overturn a lower court's ruling granting qualified immunity to a Texas SWAT commander who ordered his team to raid 593 8th Street when they had a warrant for 573 8th Street.

The houses had GLARING differences.

On Friday, #SCOTUS will consider two different @ij.org cases seeking to hold law enforcement accountable for raiding the wrong home.

While each deals with different immunities, both are part of a troubling trend of immunity for cops who overlook obvious evidence of mistakes.🧵

Hey, would you look at that: It's @ij.org's First Amendment lawsuit in New Hampshire on the front page of today's @wsj.com!

Our other client, Ketan Vakil, suffers from similar stomach issues to Michelle. The low-FODMAP diet also helped him, so he started his own company selling low-FODMAP products.

But the FDA and USDA are barring him from labeling his products as such, so others can find them.

IJ client Michelle Przybocki is on a strict low-FODMAP diet after suffering from sever stomach issues that nearly killed her.

But because the government bans the term "low-FODMAP" on food labels, it's incredibly difficult for her to find foods that are safe for her.
