As some Democrats spent the week trying to destroy Mamdani, Republicans are uniting to pass the big beautiful billionaire bill and destroy our Medicaid and add $4.5 trillion in debt to give billionaires the biggest wealth transfer in US history.

Priorities.

A breakthrough preventive drug that offers total protection from HIV was to be rolled out across parts of Africa this year. But the Trump administration’s foreign aid cuts derailed those plans.

A new drug that gives almost complete protection against the virus was to be administered across Africa this year. Now, much of the funding for that effort is gone.

Cries of Defiance and Songs of Joy in Los Angeles
The protesters are being called unspeakably violent by the Trump administration. I mostly saw clergy sit-ins and Tejano bands.

good thread here. I'll add that the other part of the theory was that if IRA inflated a bunch of green energy business interests in GOP districts then they would come around. alas, nope
The political theory behind IRA was roughly as follows: We have lost control of the information landscape and can no longer win rhetorical or purely political battles; however, if we make substantive policy progress that directly touches voters' lives, they will notice and reward us.
