We might be “experiencing an AI bubble,” Rogé Karma argues. “If that bubble bursts, it could put the dot-com crash to shame—and the tech giants and their Silicon Valley backers won’t be the only ones who suffer.”
Just How Bad Would an AI Bubble Be?
The entire U.S. economy is being propped up by the promise of productivity gains that seem very far from materializing.

Wrote a little love letter to Denmark 🫶🇩🇰

In good Nordic style, I of course had to dunk on them a little. But the main point is: if all European countries were more like Denmark, Ukraine and Europe would be in a very different place now.

Small State Power: Be Like Denmark
In this week’s Europe Dispatch, Minna Ålander writes about how Denmark is showing that even small states can punch far above their weight and lead by example.

Over 12 years and 150 drugs from knowingly unsafe Indian factories with the FDA blessing. Banana republic anyone !?
The FDA quietly gave a global manufacturer a special pass to continue sending 14 drugs to Americans even though they were made at a substandard factory that was officially banned from the U.S. market.

It wasn’t the first time.
How the FDA Let Medications From Banned Foreign Factories Into the U.S.
ProPublica spent 14 months investigating the FDA’s oversight of foreign drugmakers that send medications to the U.S. These are the key takeaways.

I wrote about some concerning new developments that may indicate that Russia is feeling confident enough in Trump’s ability to force a bad deal on Ukraine so that the Kremlin is starting to prepare for more.

The people Attorney General Bondi is calling “terrorists” have had no trial and no chance to defend themselves. We do not know who they are. Ignoring the Constitution does not make us safe. It puts us all in peril.

Russia’s leaders have said nothing about peace. They have made a list of demands on the US, the fulfillment of which allows them to broaden the war against Ukraine. And the US simply fulfills all of these Russian demands without question. That is only a peace process in the Orwellian sense.

Kudos to @phillipspobrien.bsky.social for having written this on 2 September, 2023:

”What leaders in Europe have to face, as a pro-Russia, anti-Ukraine position solidifies in the Republican Party, is the prospect of having to do most of the heavy lifting to help Ukraine win the war.”
The U.S. and Europe Are Splitting Over Ukraine
The GOP’s populist wing would abandon Kyiv—and endanger the world’s most successful military alliance.

They are playing Russian roulette with the FAA. This comes after the Southwest flight in Chicago yesterday. There are so many incidents in the past month, I lose track! It’s unheard of and crickets from the administration
Another plane incident in DC:

An American Airlines flight from Boston had to abort its landing at DCA airport this morning to avoid another plane that was taking off on the same runway, authorities said.

A linguistics professor was lecturing his class. "In English, a double negative is a positive. In some languages, like Russian, a double negative is still a negative. But, there is no language wherein a double positive can be a negative."

A voice from the back of the room piped up, "Yeah, right."
