Labour is saying not just that they don't want refugees, but that they don't want them to settle, they don't want them to have hope, they don't want their children, they don't want our ideas, our energy, what we have to offer. A disgrace for any party, particularly one (allegedly) on the left.

It's awful when it comes to this. I've dealt with a very similar situation. One of my students was being threatened with removal from the course due to low attendance, due to serious issues. She was a consistently high scorer. And yet instead of offering support, the system sent her scary emails.

Attendance is a massively poor metric to measure student's success/chance of success. Unfortunately now, education is so data-led, they will happily jump on anything quantifiable and pretend it matters.
