Everyone, follow @alancross.bsky.social! His rock history podcast is amazing. Let’s get him to 3k.
I’m never getting to 3K followers on this site, am I? I’ve stuck at 2.9K for weeks. I guess I just can’t cut it here. But I will keep trying.

Thus endeth the whine.

When these cuts were announced, they were told, "People will die as a result." They pressed forward anyway and they did.

At least 27 dead.

“Tornado warnings were delayed because of reduced staff. Those critical moments — a midnight warning to your phone waking you up, giving you precious seconds to find shelter — came too late for some.

The risk of these cuts creating this exact problem was known before last night.”

Poilievre drew 5,000 people to his rally in Surrey and 3,500 to his rally in Winnipeg. Big numbers

Bigger numbers: in 2021, the winning candidate in Surrey Centre got 15,753 votes (a Liberal).

In Winnipeg ridings, it was between 14,000 and 22,000 votes (mix of Conservatives, NDP and Liberal).

People are changing the labels on Wayne G's wine: "a merlot that is sad and 2 faced" "as weak as the name-sakes moral fibre."
There is a reason why Canadians dominate comedy - we are wickedly funny.
And when push comes to shove we play for keeps
(ie. Kharmalov's ankle).
Sucks to be you Wayne.

Inviting O'Leary to speak on a serious radio show on this very serious issue is somewhere in between incompetent and treasonous.
There have been a few times when Checkup has been hammered on social media for a program we haven't done yet. I'm in a show meeting right now. The gap between what's being posted and what we're actually planning is enormous. Our regular listeners should expect the same care we use for every show.

Ian, you lack insight and it continues to impact your reputation and ability to live up to the responsibilities as a journalist and national figure in Canada. The thing you’re known for most at this point is the chronic inability to ever take feedback and corrections when the stakes are high.

Oh FFS. Must we produce the show for you?

The question is:

What should Canada be doing to prepare for economic and potentially real war with a fascist US?

OR

What response do you expect from Canadian politicians to the threat of annexation?
Lots of thoughtful social media criticism of our question for Sunday's Checkup and we listened. The new question: what do you think of Trump's comments about Canada becoming the 51st state? The show's being simulcast on more than 100 NPR stations. It's a chance to make your voice heard.

I am really frustrated that the press is discussing the destruction of USAID as something that has happened rather than an illegal action that will likely be undone in two weeks when courts tell the world that it was illegal.
