A new Manitoba-specific study using whole-population health data looked at 66,365 Manitobans with positive Covid tests (PCR) between 2020-21 and found that 23.3% had Long Covid.

The current administration's policies on healthcare, clinical and basic, research, and vulnerable populations will likely have profound negative effects on genetic counseling patients (and all patients, of course). This blogpost explores the impact in some detail.

As in my last posting, my analysis is not complete and, so far, mostly speculative because the effects of the policies are only beginning to be felt and Trump flip-flops so frequently that it's hard to know how permanent they will be.

New paper alert! 🚨

Up to 39% of Canadians have unmet need for genetic counselling and that its associated with some sociodemographic characteristics. Much of this unmet need is for multifactorial conditions and wouldn’t be met through the current system.
