Just received a Q&A, where I'll choose which q's to answer. Half are like "What is the role of genre fiction in social criticism" & half are "What tools do you use to write?" Kudos to the list-maker for an impressive mix of hard and soft balls ;) I'm definitely doing the hard ones.

200 of mine. No, that's not a typo. 200 works. Every book, short story, novella, collection, some translations. That includes books published less than a year ago.

Spell-check just tried to change "Zombie." to "Zombies." Now wondering what it thinks the singular is. Zomby? Zombi? Zombee?

It also wanted to change draugr to drugs, which would have made this story a delightfully bonkers "don't do drugs" PSA

I feed the crows every morning, but with winter, a lot more have figured it out, so I've started "hiding" some. So far, we're at the toddler stage, where the peanuts are in plain sight if they look hard enough, which they do.

It's the slow season. I need some way to amuse myself.

I have my husband's location tracked via Find My, though I only ever open it answer important questions like "when will my coffee arrive?" Ten minutes, apparently.

Plotting the last part of my novella
Creative me: this'll happen and then this and, ooh, how about this, and then this twist and--
Manager me: you're already over 30K
Creative: ???
Manager: this is a novella, ma'am
Fine... Mallory will solve the mystery faster b/c she's just that good

Email from my editor, wanting to talk titles. Is "no" an appropriate response? 😂 How much do I hate coming up with titles? I'd rather write a formal outline. Personally, I think my working title is just fine. Haven's Rock 4. Done.

We aren't really a sports-watching family, but my youngest made a point of listening to the game last night (watching it cost $ and he wasn't going that far) The outcome was more important than it usually is, and hockey is always important here. Huge congrats to the Canadian team for its OT win.
