This, but I’d add slightly. It’s not just eliminating friction, it’s that almost everything you hear is pure sycophancy. We really can’t process what it’d be like to have everyone in your orbit adore everything you do and say, all of the time.
I think part of What's Going On with billionaires is that the daily friction of interacting with normal people is part of what anchors people to the real world, and once you have enough money to buy your way out of the friction you can knock down a load-bearing column propping up your sanity.

If you’re a Republican in Congress, you really do actually want the Epstein files released, because it’s a potential off ramp from the below that you can’t possibly be held responsible for by MAGA.
Trump's Net Approval On:

🟢Israel-Hamas: +34%
🟢Border Security: +8%

🔴Immigration: -10%
🔴Tariffs: -26%
🔴Economy: -28%
🔴Russia-Ukraine: -34%
🔴Inflation: -44%

Once again, the red threat of MAGA is unselfconscious stupidity. They have no interest in interrogating what they perceive to be common sense.
Markwayne Mullin: "Reward people for being healthy. Think about this. Healthcare is the only industry that you're not rewarded for taking care of your responsibility. If you think about homeowners insurance, if you're within 500 feet of a fire hydrant, your insurance goes down."

Trump thinks about words as having something akin to monetary value. He layers on superlatives and garnish to get him closer to the deal, like bidding up an auction. So when he posts an exhaustive list of his policy “wins”, know that he thinks you’re going to take a LOT of persuading.
“I don't care when the Senate passes the House Bill, whether tonight, or at some other time in the near future, I just don't want Republicans to take their eyes off all of the Victories that we've had…”
November 18, 2025 at 11:07 PM
My political strategy take is that it makes perfect sense for Rs to walk hand in hand with Trump all the way to the ledge. If he’s not in there, they were loyal. If he is (he is), it’s big enough to be a clean break, and they can say “I trusted him, I’m as shocked as anyone” and throw him overboard.
Nancy Mace: "You can see in the Epstein emails that he's clearly targeting President Trump as retribution for him being a good man ... he's a good man who protects women. That's what real men do."

Anyone who even intimates this sentiment should be cast out.

Democrats will mildly annoy you at work.

Republicans will impoverish, beat, or starve you to satisfy the God of their death cult.

I’ll never understand business leaders in this moment. You bend the knee to Trump, so Dems hate you with a burning passion. So you kowtow to the right, only to backtrack when reality bites, so now they hate you too. What was accomplished? This is the fruit of cynicism.

The government knowingly putting false information in the label of a drug is crossing a Rubicon that should not be taken lightly
Trump: FDA will be updating label of existing drug

I think the calling card of MAGA-thought (and to some extent, today’s republicans generally) is the inability or unwillingness to interrogate ‘common sense’. If it feels right/intuitive, they have no interest in looking deeper.
Q: Outlets are reporting you plan to tie Tylenol to autism

TRUMP: It's a big factor, but you'll see tomorrow. We want things to take effect immediately

Q: Links between vaccines & autism?

T: Children get these massive vaccines like you'd give to a horse. I've said spread them out over 5 years

Look, I understand the journalistic importance of getting people on the record, etc. but at some point, CNN et al ought to decide whether having admin lackeys on to a) lie incessantly with little/no pushback and b) saying exactly what Trump says 100% of the time has any value whatsoever.
Mullin: "When 97% of the news stories are negative about him & 99% about Pete Hegseth are negative, it is cheating, bc you're putting out a narrative that isn't true...there's a thin line between free speech & when it crosses a line and causes violence. And when you start calling someone fascist..."

I never really hear Swalwell as a 2028 name, but every time I see him he’s clear, courageous, and informed. Have I missed something major with him?
Swalwell: There’s going to be a Democratic majority in just over a year. To the FCC chairperson and anyone in involved in these dirty deals: get a lawyer and save your records because you’re going to be in this room answering questions

A rare case (but increasingly normal under Trump) where both leaders utterly humiliate themselves and their countries in the same moment.

In my administration, Bill Kristol would chair the Department of Government Excess (DOGE), which seeks accountability for human rights abuse done in the name of the USG. Its reach will extend to ICE, DOJ, the State Dept, and wherever Nayib Bukele decides he wants to hide from swift American justice.
It should be needless to say, but it is perhaps at this moment worth saying, that transgender individuals have the same right as anyone else to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Notice how the media ignores standards when they immediately jump to “reported trans/antifa messages on bullets”, but becomes suddenly blind to content and context when they say “shooter was critical of Kirk’s views” without saying from which vantage point he was critical.

As grim as this story may be, there's still much to be inspired by.

Look no further than this attorney for the children, who rushed to the airport to stop the planes. She stood near the tarmac, warning any officials she saw that they’d be complicit in violating a court order if the planes took off.

I’m so tired of triangulation. For my money, it’s as simple as this: we will not fund this lawless government, and we will never afford it the benefit of the doubt on any topic. Let the chips fall where they may. End of story.

When this national humiliation is over, the elites who presided over it are going to try to return to the fold. You’ll see them at the next inauguration, and they’ll say “we did it all out of respect for the office and the hope that we could influence a bright future.” Don’t fucking let them.
