This sounds delicious as well as allergy friendly (to eggs). This recipe also sounds very interesting and healthy as it contains oats, dates, cinnamon, etc. It also contains a good amount of chocolate which is good for the sweet tooth! A winner for kids and adults alike. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

I plan to incorporate nutrition to aid my patients eat as healthy as possible while still enjoying the foods they love. I would advise them on good and bad food choices based on what nutrients it seems they need. Lastly, I want to be their greatest food advocate. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

I enjoy sweet potatoes as my favorite part of the thanksgiving meal so it is nice to learn how they are packed with nutritious components. Pomegranates also taste really good! although I don't like eating the seeds of the pomegranate so I usually avoid them. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

I most look forward to eating sweet potatoes with marshmellows, as well as stuffing with gravy and our homemade cranberry sauce. The sauce is made of fresh cranberries, dried cherries, sugar, and orange marmalade! It is the best cranberry sauce I've ever had! @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

This is such a cute and healthy idea!! It is perfect for the holidays and would be a fun activity for any member of a household! It also seems to be a multipurpose decor as it would be a beautiful decoration but also a great and healthy snack! @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
Bring extra charm to your Thanksgiving table! Create mini cornucopias using ice cream cones and fill them with your favorite salad or fresh fruit topped with whipped cream or ice cream. A seasonal touch guests will love.

The article I chose was a general guide on nutrition's impact on a child's growth. The article was from International Journal of Research in Science and Technology and it was not a super easy read but it is definitely informative on how different nutrients affect growth. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

Wow! I knew kale was healthy but I had no idea it was this powerful! I'm so curious which parts of the kale aid in eye support? Do they strengthen the retina? rods? cones? I will definitely keep kale in mind now for when I need to help with inflammation. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

This story astounded me. It was interesting to hear the first hand struggles, insecurities, and solutions of a person. In the future I will help my patients find something they would enjoy and could benefit their health, while not cutting out every food they would enjoy. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

It actually shocks me that people think genetically modified foods are bad for you, as their purpose is to make the food healthier. Although I see where they're coming from and how it could have bad implications and take away some of the healthy parts of the food as well. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

I did previously know that poverty, genetics, and weight as a child is related to obesity in adults. I will keep in mind to encourage children to retain healthy weights, through healthy methods, as well as to find solutions for those in poverty to retain healthy weight. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

I definitely agree! In nutrition class this week we went over circumstances that affect how a person eats. These were some instances mentioned in class, the one that stood out to me was time, as sometimes there is just not enough time in the day to make a nutritious meal. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
Hunger isn’t only about food. It’s tied to income, housing, education, and access to grocery stores. Real nutrition solutions start by understanding those bigger systems. #RealWorldNutrition

I would say lack of time to cook, shop and prepare food, is one reason I don’t consume healthy foods. I do love and enjoy cooking healthy meals however I find when I’m at college I am lazy to/don’t have the time to make nutritious foods. another reason may be budgeting. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

This was an interesting find as I thought that all fruits were almost equal at offering the same amount of healthy macronutrients, I never knew that some could offer more protein than others, as when I think protein my first thought is meat. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

This week we looked at vitamins and supplements so I found an article by the mayo clinic on vitamin B7. B7 is necessary for fatty acid and glucose development it is also important in metabolism and lack of it may lead to hair loss, skin rash, and heart problems @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

Wow! I have definitely heard that tea is healthy for an individual, but I did not know it was specifically green tea and that it can reduce aging of the brain. The same could be said for a Mediterranean diet! I will definitely look more into it and drink more tea! @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
Following a green-Mediterranean diet—which includes green tea and the aquatic plant Mankai—is associated with slower brain aging, according to a study co-authored by researchers at Ben-Gurion University, Harvard Chan School, and the University of Leipzig.

The resource I chose was by the Mayo Clinic. It was an article titled “The sweet truth: All about sugar”. The resource discusses the different types of sugars and how they appear in foods. I found it to be a peer reviewed article as it was done by a RDN. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

I was always wondering if people don't follow the dietary guidelines is it unhealthy for them? Will it have a bad impact on their physical condition? Or are alternative diets like paleo, keto, fasting, etc healthier or less healthy than following the guidelines? @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
Ever wonder why we even have the Dietary Guidelines for Americans? They shape nutrition programs nationwide, but most people don’t follow them. My new blog breaks down their history, purpose, and highlights from the 2020–2025 version. www.shelleyrael.com/blog/dga-202...

I looked at Paleo diets, which is a diet used to reduce weight as well as risks of heart disease as well as cardiovascular disease. The diet mainly focuses on consuming eggs, fruits, vegetables, fish, oils and lean meats? But does this diet have any cons? @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

This is interesting to think about as the different levels of whole grain percentage make-ups have different effects and different nutritional benefits. It is also great to think about this when we think about making nutrient dense meals. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

For breakfast I always have toast with butter, but a way to make it more nutrient dense could be to try a better bread option like rye, followed eggs, cream cheese, berries, or even just start by replacing butter with almond butter for fiber, protein and healthy fats. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

I concur! When people become stressed and confused about eating, we usually turn back to what we like to or usually eat, this doesn't help anyone learn more about what we are supposed to eat and the way we eat. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
We talk about what to eat, but less about how we think about it. The stress, judgement & fear around food choices aren’t just exhausting—they make eating decisions harder. We don't think as clearly. We default to habits & jump to conclusions... That’s probably not helping anyone eat better.
September 28, 2025 at 5:03 PM
It was easy to recall what I ate and very accurate. As this is not the first time I've done this. My diet is also not very surprising as I kinda have a routine when eating. For breakfast I mostly always have toast, similarly I usually eat a sweet treat everyday. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

I agree! A lot of the time people go through diets because they don't understand the benefits of certain foods they are eating! For instance, a fat free diet is not only cutting out bad saturated fats, but is also cutting out the good and healthy unsaturated fats. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
We love to give diets a name; people love to create communities around them. People form factions to advocate for and against them. Quite often, this does more to harm than help.
September 21, 2025 at 9:32 PM
I did not know how important unsaturated fats were. And how it is recommended that we should eat 8% to 10% daily. Also interesting was that eating polyunsaturated fats is also healthier than eating unsaturated fats and eating 15% daily can lower risk of heart disease. @beh353.bsky.social #beh353

I know that heating foods breaks down chemical bonds of fats and proteins, but I never thought that it could change the flavors of certain foods! That's so cool! But if heating foods can change their flavors, does cooling/freezing them as well? I think it does! @beh353.bsky.social #beh353
Someone asked why melted cheese tastes so much better...I love these Qs, it's food science we take for granted!
Melting breaks down fats and proteins to release umami + aroma/flavour compounds. The gooey texture spreads to the tastebuds better + the Maillard reaction creates that toasty flavour.
