Electrolyte supplements can be needless because the amount of sodium in blood can actually increase during exercise. Athletes lose proportionately more water than sodium.

Athletes: Instead of choosing protein over carbs, how about enjoying protein (to build muscles) PLUS carbs (to fuel muscles)? Consult a sports dietitian to find the right balance for your body.
