Howling about BIG news! A generous donor is now matching all donations up to $50k through year-end! That means every dollar you give to the WCC between now and Dec. 31 will have twice the power to protect wolves.🐺

I remember writing a column about NHL refs managing games to keep the score close.
The year was 1994 and the Nordiques were playing the Rangers in the playoffs.

I've spent tens of thousands of words trying to come to grips with the massacre at the #Poly, the longest evening of my life. I was there, it was cold, it was gut-wrenching.
But the core of it remains: one pathetic little man with a gun can do more damage than the rest of us can ever undo.

God the dreck on Netflix sometimes. Does no one step back and actually look?
The Abandons (terrible title) opens with a woman who looks like she just stepped out of a Vogue shoot, wearing pressed and immaculate everything.
In Washington Territory in 1854.

Just fuck right off.

Always remember that "innocence" is actually a euphemism for "ignorance".
“Banning books won’t preserve childhood innocence. But it will rob young people of stories that might have enriched or validated their lives, and it will teach others that censorship is the solution to ideas you find challenging or contrary to your personal values.”
Alberta’s Book Ban Is a Blatant Act of Cultural Vandalism | The Walrus
The push to sanitize school collections erases what literature is for: knowledge, discovery, the freedom to think

It's Happy Saturday in Hab land. The Noah Dobson deal was a big splash from the Habs, who had downplayed expectations going into the draft. The price was high but instead of a big number of third- and fourth-liners, they get an elite defence man and an elite Top Four.
Smile through the rain, people.

Might be the most revealing quote of the entire HuGo era.
Nice guys sometimes finish first.
Noah Dobson on signing with the Habs:

"Without hesitation, it was a no-brainer for me. Just the opportunity to be part of the Montreal Canadiens, it's an honour. It's the best hockey market in the world. The fans are incredible. I love playing at the Bell Centre...“

Is there anything short of Donald Trump dumber than sports books posting odds today on who will win the next Stanley Cup?
What a ridiculous business, the business of sports gambling. Ridicous, corrosive and damaging.

I've been at the job of raising sons since 1975. The third one is 19 and at university now and the oldest is about to get married for the first time, so my job is almost done and none have been arrested for a felony offence.

My only advice? Be there. Just be there.

Happy Pop's Day, dudes.

More people died manufacturing the V2 during World War II than died from being hit by them.

Just read a couple of stories on Kevin Durant trade rumours published by allegedly reputable news sources.
If anything, they were more absurd than NHL rumours.
At some point we really have to get back to journalism.
RUMOUR STORIES ARE NOT JOURNALISM.
