Inharmonicity enhances brain signals of attentional capture and auditory stream segregation
Harmonicity is an important feature for auditory perception as it influences pitch processing, memory and hearing in noisy environments. However, the neural substrates of processing harmonic and inhar...

What happens in the brain when we manipulate our thoughts?

We asked 30 epilepsy patients to mentally invert short melodies.

Intracerebral #iEEG recordings suggest brain synchrony and sensory inhibition are key for mental manipulation:

Brain Dynamics of Mental Manipulation
Humans effortlessly juggle their internal thoughts, but the neuronal dynamics that support mental manipulation are largely unknown. Leveraging the high spatiotemporal fidelity of intracranial recordin...

I’m driven nuts by the fact that what was once a user manual is now a series of YouTube shorts.
The real generational divide is people who refuse to watch a video if it could be an article versus people who refuse to read an article if it could be a video

Excited to be here in beautiful Maastricht for ICAC 2025! Come see Tomek Domżalski presenting preliminary results from his PhD tomorrow, poster #237. On Thursday, I’ll show fresh results from our study on inharmonicity effects on different auditory features, poster #333.

Just hopped on a train to Kraków, heading for #IOP2025. I’m super excited to share new results from our lab at the “Psychophysiology of Predictions” symposium on Tuesday morning (co-chaired with Marcin Leszczyński).

Check out the preprint of our review of neural mechanisms of predictive processing, now on arXiv arxiv.org/abs/2504.09614

It’s been a wonderful experience to be a part of this project, all made possible by the incredible work of @jeromelecoq.bsky.social who coordinated the effort.

I’m amazed at the sheer number of people who genuinely believe bullshit such as this.

Curiously, it often comes from people heavily invested in the whole AI revolution nonsense.
If you have zero education, but learn how to ask AI models the right questions , in many jobs you will be able to outperform someone with an advanced degree, but who is unwilling to use Large Language Models.

Just takes a smartphone, curiosity to experiment and a mindset to learn.

Because, once again, variation is the norm.
1/7 Our paper on individual variability in decision-making is finally out in @nature.com! Inspired by the classic work by Mante and Sussillo, we trained many rats to solve context-dependent decision-making, and we found that different brains use different neural mechanisms to solve the same task!

See? They’re shitting the bed because suddenly products don’t sell. It’s always about $$$ in the end.

Same with Twitter. Angry at Elon? Then stop using Twitter! It’s as simple as that. It’s not like it tells you something important…
How to stop a boycott underway because buying a Tesla has become associated with political support for Musk and Trump.
Wow, so I guess the #TeslaTakedown is working.

Always remember: reducing your personal carbon footprint is the morally correct thing to do, but it is also irrelevant compared to all the environmental damage done by big corporations (who highly prefer you to feel guilty about your actions than to be held accountable for theirs).

This is wisdom.
I have a theory that if you think your grant is absolutely amazing and flawless then you are in a bubble and probably not writing well for a wider audience.

The best place to be is somewhat confident, but also aware that there are possible holes in your proposal that you can't easily address.

That’s why the only thing that can hurt him is coordinated action.

Stop using Twitter. Don’t buy Teslas. Support alternatives. Convince your friends to do the same.
The frustrating thing about any legal action against Musk is that he's got something like $425 billion. He could lose a court case for billions of dollars and it would still be nothing to him. The dude loves lawsuits because they're nothing to him.
This guy knows f**k all about UK libel and defamation law.

The Guardian should launch legal action against Elon Musk now.

Many of us would gladly contribute to their legal fighting fund.
