(NBC News) - President Donald Trump's pick to run the Bureau of Labor Statistics was among the crowd outside the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, with the White House saying he was a "bystander" who wandered over after seeing coverage on the news.

This should be on loop in the office in every congressional Democrat so they can internalize what needs to happen.

Chris can be, and should be, the party leader at this point.

I have lived in authoritarianism before, and participated in a popular movement against it. My political voice was born in it. I was just talking to a friend - this moment is *triggering* because it feels like so few people are reacting on the magnitude of what I know is coming.

It's too bad that @chrismurphyct.bsky.social is one of the only elected members of the Democratic party willing to demonstrate that they "get it"

I'm thankful for having such an amazing Senator representing Connecticut. It isn't going to be enough when leadership across both chambers is what it is.

Sure looks like @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social and @schumer.senate.gov are far more interested in their book tours than their actual jobs or fighting for, you know, the government itself.

But hey, I'm sure those royalties and comps from the publisher are great!
I am sure government shutdown before a book tour is not a good look either.

Despite @chrislhayes.bsky.social best efforts here, @schumer.senate.gov managed to argue both for & against voting for cloture using the same argument -- namely "they are already doing all of the terrible things I'm worried they are going to do during a shutdown." Weak.

In 2018 the buzz phrase was the cruelty is the point.

In 2024 the keyword for Trump and Vance was "weird."

What's unfolding now in 2025 deserves a new word, and only one word will do: Evil.

Evil, not in the figurative sense of the word. But actual, theological evil.

A tale of two presidential coverages by WaPo. A stark example of how the legacy media helped push us into this disaster. On the top, Trump today with 151K jobs. On the bottom, Biden in 2021 with 194k jobs.
