How did it become unpatriotic to bring up ill-advised or downright awful things the U.S. did? (Japanese camps in WWII, overthrowing the Hawaiian monarchy, Trail of Tears, slavery, on and on) How are we going to fix and heal from these wrongs if we can't even talk about them in the first place?

South Carolina legislators introduced a bill to charge women receiving abortion with homicide, which, in South Carolina, is subject to the death penalty.

You heard that right: the “pro-life” folks want to execute women. For seeking healthcare.

The 17 standing committees will be dominated by white men when the new Congress is seated on Jan. 3. No people of color were selected, either.

YES! This is exactly why I co-founded the No PAC Caucus and proposed a ban against all PAC, super PAC, and lobbyist money. We need to unrig Washington.
The solution to the NRA buying politicians isn’t to stop the NRA itself, it’s to stop allowing ALL groups that at dark money groups from being able to buy politicians.

This is bigger than red v. blue, campaign finance is an issue within both major political parties.

As a physiotherapy student, I trained in a neuro rehabilitation clinic. I met ppl with post-polio syndrome (decades after the original infection, the muscles affected by polio started to lose strength). There is no cure for polio or PPS.

Why we would risk more ppl getting polio is unfathomable.

Conservatives: Free market! Cut the govt regulations and there will be tons of companies popping up to compete! It will be a race for keeping prices low and quality high!

Me: But what if a company gets so big it buys up all its rivals? It won't...

Good partners talk + share the load.

Men, don't leave every house- and childcare-related task to women and then wonder why she's too tired for s*x.

Women, don't turn down men's offers to help or criticize how they did a task wrong (or differently from you) and then wonder why they don't pitch in.

Hot Take: from childhood, both girls AND boys should be taught how to and expected to "help around the house"--laundry, cooking, cleaning, pet/babycare, etc. No domestic task is beneath or outside the ability of either sex. Doing them isn't the woman's job, it's an ADULT'S job.

We paid ONE TRILLION on interest alone last year for our national debt. Trump and co's decided the answer is to cut the 1.6 trillion we gave to 70 million people as Social Security, but not the 12 BILLION we spent just on nuclear weapons? www.usaspending.gov/explorer/age...

GOP Grand Plan:

1. Claim that "See, the govt is unreliable and inefficient. Private corp.s are doing it better."
2. Pass bills that shrink the budget for govt agencies.
3. Govt agencies struggle from lack of staff and $.
4. Private corp.s raise $ and offer rival services.
5. Go back to Step One.

Most (56%) Black people in the United States live in “the South.” With all we know of the racism built into America’s justice system (“War on Drugs,” policing, prosecution, incarceration, etc), it’s no surprise a map of INCARCERATION RATES BY STATE looks like this.

Caging Black people is the point.

Supreme Court 18-year term limit bill should be just the beginning:

— 13 justices
— 7 clerks per justice
— single 18-year term
— binding code of ethics with punishments all the way up to impeachment
— full investigation of corrupt gifts to Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, et al.

Amid the backdrop that more than a dozen members of Trump's Cabinet are billionaires, a reminder that this is what happened to income inequality in this country once the tax rate for top earners was slashed after 1980. Trickle down does not work and top earners' priority is themselves.

Nearly 57 years after the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., on MLK Day, a white supremacist, son of a klansman, convicted felon, endorsed by the KKK’s official newspaper, ‘The Crusader,’ will be sworn in as president of the U.S.

Tell me again how there’s no racism in America.
